MASTER OF CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

PURPOSE OF MCE

The Master of Christian Education(MCE or MRE) Program provides a one or two-year curriculun for students having completed a recognized four-year college program in theological studies for those preparing for responsible positions of Christian leadership. This program allows a good opportunity for specialized studies of the Master of Christian of Education.

GOALS OF MCE

Educational Goals

1. To enable the student to give evidence of an understanding of the historical development of theology, a knowledge of reformed theology, and an ability to support his or her theological views and apply them to contemporary issues.
2. To enable the student to develop a biblical philosophy of and commitment to Christian education and service in home, church, and school.
3. To enable the student to formulate educational programs that are biblically based, educationally accurate, and related to people's needs.
4. To enable the student to utilize proper biblical and educational methods and materials for at least one age-level.

Spiritual Goals

1. To enable the student to give evidence of an increasing likeness to Lord Christ as manifested in love for God, love for other, and evidence of the fruit of the Holy Spirit through prayer and reading the Bible every day.
2. To enable the student to exhibit godly leadership with a team spirit that will lead others into spiritual maturity and help develop him or her for leadership roles.

Ministry Goals

1. To enable the student to organize, administer, and evaluate an educational program based on stated goals and objectives, working successfully with people in a variety of ministry situations.
2. To enable the student to communicate effectively in a variety of Christian education ministry settings.

REQUIREMENTS

Academic requirements for receiving this degree include a minimum of 3 semester hours of residence work, including a thesis of approximately 20,000 words, concluded by an oral examination before the entire Faculty.
For graduation a minimum of sixty(60) semester hours of residence work must be completed, including six semester hours of credit for the dissertation with a grade point average B or higher, Results of the research project in course must be deposited in the library in the form of a thesis.
Twenty semester hours shall be in the student's major field, and at least six hours other than his major field; at least four semester hours in his major field shall be on a seminar basis. Education principles for at least 3 semesters is necessary for graduation. A student who has not had satisfactory courses in New Testament Greek may be required to take additional work in the Greek language.
