FACULTY

Faculty(professor) of VCU must not only be highly qualified in academics and instructional methodologies, but they also must be excellent spiritual and moral examples of student for the glory of God. Every board, administration, staff and faculty member must sign, the Statement of Belief and Covenant or Doctrinal Position, Philosophy of Education, and distinctive principles of VCU.

Our Faculty(professor) rests firmly upon the integrity and inerrancy of the Holy Scriptures and, therefore, wholeheartedly accepts the great basic doctrines of the historic Protestant Christian faith and the Westminster Confession.

Therefore all faculty of VCU will maintain its theological position. In addition to the General Regulation of the University, Our Professor(teacher) must have degrees such as the Doctor of Ministry (D.Min. or D.C.E), and Doctor of Theology(Th.D) or Ph.D degree, after receiving the Master of Theology (Th.M) and M.Div or MA degree in according to a major field of study.

I. Standards and Evaluative Criteria of Undergraduate Professor


(1) There must be one full-time, contracted, academically and spiritually qualified faculty for each major/program offered, including general education, to teach and provide teaching-related duties, such as advising and curricular oversight needed for the VCU, and whose job responsibilities are specifically spelled out in the contract and a job description.

(2) There must be a faculty of sufficient size to exercise the duties expected of a faculty and to provide the instruction needed for the institution to fulfill its purpose.

(3) Faculty members must know, understand, and respect the purpose, objectives and philosophy of the VCU.

(4) The faculty must possess the appropriate academic credentials and experiences for their teaching assignments for students. Professors of VCU hold at least the master's degree in their teaching field from an accredited instution in order to teach at bachelor's level.

(5) The required percentage of full-time faculty must possess an earned accredited degree from an accredited institution.
a. At least thirty percent(30%) of all faculty possess the doctorate in their teaching area?from an accredited institution.
b. At least twenty-five percent(25%) of all faculty hold the doctorate in their teaching?field for each major offered.

(6) The full-time faculty must represent a good mix of maturity and teaching experience.

(7) Full and part-time faculty employed by the VCU must have, on file, official personal and professional information in the appropriate institutional office such as contracts, evaluations, transcripts, and other pertinent data.


II. Standards and Evaluative Criteria of Graduate Professor

Membership in the graduate faculty must be based upon such criteria as possession of the earned doctorate degree in the appropriate field, considerable teaching and research experience, publishing, and other academic endeavors and participation in relevant professional societies.


(1) Faculty involved in teaching and curricular-advising assignments at the master's and doctoral levels must be academically and professionally qualified.

(2) Faculty involved in graduate teaching must regularly be evaluated by the VCU through an established process.

(3) The VCU have established policies and procedures for graduate faculty recruitment and selection.

(4) The VCU maintain in the appropriate academic office up-to-date graduate faculty files containing official transcripts, contracts, evaluations, development data, and other such materials.

(5) The VCU provide a clear, written, graduate-level faculty advising process.

(6) The graduate faculty must know, understand, and support the purpose, objectives, and philosophy of the VCU.

(7) The VCU must have written policies regarding graduate faculty appointment, retention, advancement, and dismissal.
